Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Directr collects when you use directr.so, why, who helps us process it, and how you can delete it. The short version: we use your videos only to edit them for you, we keep them for 30 days, and you can delete everything whenever you like.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Your videos: the files you upload, a transcript of what’s said in them, the edits we render, and details like length and size.
- What you ask the editor: your chat messages are sent to the AI to plan your edit. We store the edit plans and a count of messages (for usage limits), not a copy of the conversation.
- Billing status: whether you have Pro. Polar handles the payment itself.
- Basic usage: a random visitor ID in a cookie so we can count visits, plus standard server logs (like IP address and browser) for security and debugging. If you try Directr without an account, a cookie remembers your trial video.
How we use it
- To run the editor: transcribe, plan and render your edits, and show them back to you.
- To run your account and subscription, and apply plan limits.
- To keep the Service secure and working, and to understand how many people visit, sign up and use it.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use your videos for advertising.
Who helps us
We use these providers to run Directr. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: Accounts, sign-in, database and video storage.
- OpenAI: The AI editor: it sees sampled frames, the transcript and your chat messages to plan edits.
- Deepgram: Transcribing the speech in your videos.
- Vercel: Hosting the website.
- Railway: Rendering your edits.
- Polar: Payments and subscriptions (we never see your card details).
- Google: Sign in with Google, if you use it.
Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded videos and rendered edits: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Videos uploaded without an account: deleted after 2 days if no account claims them.
- Your account: until you delete it. We keep a record that a video was used (without the video) so plan limits stay accurate.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember a trial video before you make an account, and to count visits. If analytics is turned on, Google Analytics may set its own cookies.
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything: go to your profile and choose “Delete my account”. It removes your account, videos and edits right away.
- Download your edits: every edit has a Download button on your profile.
- Ask us: to see, correct or delete your information, email wesley@directr.so. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have extra rights, and we’ll honour them.
Children
Directr isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Videos are stored privately and only shared through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and tell you on the site or by email.
